Product Description
Clay pad (also know as maig clay pad, auto detailing clay pad, paint decontamination pad, surface contaminant remover pad) is a specialized automotive detailing tool designed for deep cleaning and decontaminating vehicle surfaces. Similar in function to clay mitts or traditional clay bars but differing in form, it typically features a flat, pad-shaped design—often made from a flexible, rubber-like clay compound infused with abrasive particles or a porous, sticky material that traps contaminants.
We have different versions for the auto detailing clay pad. Version 1.0, version 2.0 and version 3.0.
Clay pad Version 1.0: quick stain removal, efficient and fast stain removal, cost efficiency.
Clay pad Version 2.0: soft clay surface, quick stain removal without dulling, acid and alkali resistant, high-temperature resistant, and durable
Clay pad version 3.0: Using new technology and imported raw material. The clay layer is soft, has excellent elasticity, and is not easy to fall off. High adhesion properties allow for easy removal of various stubborn stains.
Size: Our car detailing clay pad has different size for your choice, usually we get the magic clay pad at size: ∅150mm ∅130mm ∅80mm, but we can customize according to your requirement.
Color: Color of this car detailing clay pad can be customized too (both color for clay and foam)
Core Functions
- Contaminant Removal: Its primary role is to eliminate embedded pollutants from a vehicle’s exterior, such as industrial fallout (tiny metal particles from brake dust), rail dust, tree sap, bird droppings, bug residue, and stubborn environmental grime. These contaminants, if left unaddressed, can etch into the paint over time, causing dullness or long-term damage. The clay pad’s texture allows it to "grab" and lift these particles without scratching the surface when used correctly.

- Surface Preparation: By smoothing the paint, glass, chrome, or plastic trim, clay pads create an optimal base for subsequent detailing steps. Whether applying wax, sealant, ceramic coating, or polish, a decontaminated surface ensures better adhesion of these products, enhancing their durability and the overall finish—resulting in a smoother, glossier appearance.

Key Advantages
Compared to traditional clay bars, clay pads often offer greater durability and coverage due to their rigid yet flexible shape, making them efficient for larger surface areas. They also tend to be more user-friendly for beginners, as their flat design reduces the risk of uneven pressure application.
In essence, a clay pad is a versatile tool that bridges thorough cleaning and surface preparation, ensuring vehicles not only look their best but also receive long-term protection against environmental damage.

Pro Tips and Precautions
- Dry grinding is prohibited: use with clean water, spraying water while grinding.

- Avoid hot surfaces: Never use a clay pad on a sun-heated or hot vehicle, as heat can cause lubricant to evaporate quickly, increasing friction.

- Test on a small area first: If you’re new to clay pads, start on a less visible part of the vehicle (e.g., the door jamb) to practice pressure and technique.

- Store properly: After use, let the pad air dry completely, then store it in a sealed container to prevent contamination or drying out.

By following these steps, you’ll safely and effectively decontaminate your vehicle’s surface, leaving it ready for a flawless finish.
